This post has been a long time coming.
I read A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas last year in 2019, and it wrecked me in the best type of way. It made me reflect on what I actually like to read—fantasy romance, the more steam the better—and altered how I view myself as a reader.
Probably my background as an English major had gotten to my head.
Now, because of this series, because of this book, I’m more honest with myself about the books I enjoy.

Don’t let the hard days win.
To the people who look at the stars and wish.
To the stars who listen—and the dreams that are answered.
The stars cascaded over us, filling the world with white and blue light. They were like living fireworks, and my breath lodged in my throat as the stars kept on falling and falling.
When you spend so long trapped in darkness…you find that the darkness begins to stare back.
No one was my master—but I might be master of everything if I wished. If I dared.

About the Author
Sarah J. Maas is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Throne of Glass series, as well as the A Court of Thorns and Roses series.
Sarah lives in Bucks County, PA, and over the years, she has developed an unhealthy appreciation for Disney movies and bad pop music. When she’s not busy writing, she can be found exploring the historic and beautiful Pennsylvania countryside with her husband and canine companion.
